Radar level transmitter has different models, and with rod type and cable type, so what's the difference between the two types?

In terms of the tank height (measuring range), the rod type is too long and not easy to transport and install, but it’s no limitation for the cable type. There's no other difference, cable type is used in wide range, while rod type used in small range. Guided wave radar level transmitter is based on the principle of time-domain reflectometer (TDR), electromagnetic pulse is transmitting along steel cable or probe rod at the speed of light, when it arrive the surface of the measured medium, partial pulse of radar level transmitter is reflected as echo and return to the pulse transmitter by same path. The distance of transmitter and the surface of the measured medium is directly proportional to the propagation time of the pulse in the meantime; the liquid level height is then calculated.

1. If the process medium with bubble, boiling or turbulence, it is recommended to use rod antenna; flexible can also be used, but the effect is not good as rigid.

2. If the process medium is viscous liquid or solid, particles, powder, it is recommended to use flexible antenna; rod type can also be used, but the effect is not good as flexible.
