Natural gas chemical industry is one of the branches of the chemical industry. It is an industry that uses natural gas as a raw material to produce chemical products. Natural gas chemical industry can also be attributed to petrochemical industry. Generally include the purification and separation of natural gas and chemical processing. Through purification, separation and cracking, steam reforming, oxidation, chlorination, sulfurization, nitration, dehydrogenation and other reactions, it can be made into synthetic ammonia, methanol and its processed products (formaldehyde, dimethyl ether, acetic acid, olefin, etc.), acetylene and its deep processing Products, etc.

 

Purification and separation

Including natural gas extracted from the ground, after dehydration, de-sanding and separation of condensate at the gas well site, further purification and separation processing is carried out according to the gas composition. The natural gas rich in sulfides must be desulfurized to meet the transportation requirements. The by-product sulfur is used as a sulfur resource to produce a series of sulfides such as sulfuric acid and carbon disulfide. After desulfurization, the natural gas is cryogenically separated (see Natural gas cryogenic separation ), you can get liquefied natural gas; if the natural gas is rich in the rare gas helium, helium can be obtained at the same time; if the natural gas is rich in wet gas with alkanes above ethane, the natural gas condensate can be obtained at the same time, the latter often uses rectification Method to recover ethane, propane, butane, and some condensate oil.

 

Chemical processing

Including the thermal cracking of natural gas at high temperature, mainly producing acetylene and carbon black; steam reforming of natural gas or partial oxidation of natural gas to produce synthesis gas; natural gas through chlorination, sulfidation, nitrification, ammoniating, and oxidation to produce methane Various derivatives; ethane, propane, butane and natural gas condensate in wet natural gas can produce ethylene, propylene and butadiene through steam cracking or thermal cracking; butadiene can be produced by dehydrogenation or oxidation of butane Or acetic acid, methyl ethyl ketone, maleic anhydride, etc.
