Non-contact high temperature FMCW radar level gauge applied to asphalt storage tank

 

Asphalt is a black-brown complex mixture composed of hydrocarbons of different molecular weights and their non-metallic derivatives. It is a kind of high-viscosity organic liquid. It is liquid with a black surface and is soluble in carbon disulfide. Asphalt is a waterproof, moisture-proof and anti-corrosion organic cementitious material. Asphalt can be mainly divided into coal tar pitch, petroleum pitch and natural pitch. Among them, coal tar pitch is a by-product of coking. Petroleum bitumen is the residue after the distillation of crude oil. Natural bitumen is stored underground, and some form mineral layers or accumulate on the surface of the earth's crust. Asphalt is mainly used in coatings, plastics, rubber and other industries as well as pavement.


A Shandong New Material Technology Co., Ltd. is a company engaged in the manufacture of basic chemical raw materials, the sales of petroleum products, and cargo warehousing services. In this project, the non-contact 80GHz frequency modulation radar level gauge DCRD1000B4 was selected and successfully applied to the storage tank. Level measurement in bitumen.

3) Process connection/material: flange mounting;

4) Sealing/process temperature: Kalrez(-40-200)℃;

5) Signal output: (4-20) mA;


The height of the on-site storage tank is 7.5m, and the asphalt temperature in the tank is 190 °C. Due to the high viscosity of asphalt, a large amount of steam is easily generated and adhered to the radar sensor, which has a great impact on the radar measurement. After our company The technicians studied the on-site working conditions, and finally adopted the non-contact 80G high-temperature frequency modulation radar level gauge, which effectively solved the problems of high temperature and steam.
